Kolkata-born Indian fashion designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, is behind the much-renowned Sabyasachi designer collections. Sabyasachi Lehengas and Sabyasachi Bridal Collection are what he is king of and known for. He began designing in 1999 and got his first apartment in 2002. It was a less than 1000 square foot apartment which tripled as his factory, atelier and home. Fast forward today, he has designed lots of film costumes for Bollywood movies. The movies which Mukherjee designed costumes for, include movies like Baabul, Raavan, English Vinglish and Laagan Chunari Mein Daag.

In past, Sabyasachi has rolled out successful collections like Kora collection consisting of unbleached, hand-woven fabrics Kantha and other embroideries. Other popular Sabyasachi collections also include Sabyasachi Lehengas, the “Frog Princess” and the spring-summer design. And “The Nair Sisters” collection, sold at Browns and Selfridges in London.
